cannot display webpage-Been getting this message on my desktop for the past week after my one year old son started pushing some buttons at random .I've got a netgear wireless key, and I reinstalled it still to no avail. The strange thing is on the netgear smart wizard it is showing connected to the internet with excellent signal strength so its not looking like a wireless issue, just kind of like explorer isnt recognising the wireless.I've also been to internet options and reset internet explorer settings but nothing, anyone any ideas.its a pentium 4 with windows xp home,
one more thing,on the windows wireless network page it is reading windows cannot configure this wireless connection,i cant remember if it has always been like this or not

Is File --> Work Offline enabled? If it is, just click it to disable it.

Uninstall the Netgear device, re-install it and choose Windows to manage wireless networks (Sometimes with Netgear this is chosen during setup if not choose it in the smart wizard options)

Nick,I have windows now set to manage wireless network, showing signal strength excellent, security enabled wireless network wpa,and currently connected to this network, still showing up the same-cant display webpage, strange one.
Also in the wireless network screen speed 54mbps and the duration is counting away if this means anything +full strength

Internet explorer isn't designed for web browsing. It's not quite capable of doing it.

Plus check your proxy settings in IE:

Tools > Internet options > connections > LAN settings.

Make sure automatically detect settings is selected and use a script or proxy server is de-selected

Download chrome,or firefox browsers ,you should,nt be relying on just 1 browser, chrome is faster than ie.

I'm guessing there is a Firewall rule blocking Internet Explorer at this point. You don't see anything about "Limited Connectivity" showing under connection details? Do you have any internet security software, if you don't try turning off the Windows Firewall (Start>Control Panel>Windows Firewall). Does that fix it?
    If now try this:
    Start>Run and type cmd.
    In the console Window type:
    ping www.google.ie

    Do you receive a response?

Windows Firewall would suffice, your probably better off not touching Norton again, just download Microsoft Security Essentials to cater for anti virus and its 100% free :) . I would also run a MBAM scan just to confirm there is no malware on your system (some forms of malware disable anti virus applications etc.)
