    hi all

i commute to work everyday on the train i usually walk to and from the station but i am going to avail of the cycle to work scheme. i see loads of bikes on the train and a folding is probably the best idea as i see loads of none folding bikes blocking up the doors on the train much to the annoyance of other passengers.

Most of the folding bikes are small little things which are very handy however they would not suit me. i have been looking for a full size folder and have only found this one.

    http://www.eurocycles.ie/Commuter/Folding_Bikes/DAHON_JACK_D24-M/4125_p.aspx

has anyone got one of these or tried out one? if so how was it? or has anyone seen another full size folder that would be good?

    thanks for reading

I thought the point of full size folder was to fit in a boot or apartment, not for folding on the go like on a train. My point being they may not be as compact or as quick to fold as the smaller ones.

i watched a video on youtube of the process of folding the bike i meantioned above and it toke around 35 seconds to fold and it will fit into the luggage section on the train

I used one of these for a while, the 7 speed version. The frame is itself a good design but all the parts wheels, bars etc are not the best quality in the world. They're a bit big to for general commuting, sure they'll fold down but you'll need to cover it in a bag if you're going to carry it for free, squeezing it into its bag takes a few minutes. I'd get something smaller as in this case it's more practical.
Saying that here's more bike for your money

Long shot but if the OP does end up buying a Dahon, I'm looking to rid myself of a semi-rigid Dahon airporter (basically a suitcase that'll apparently hold any Dahon bike). I've literally never had an opportunity to use it and a small attic access door means it's cluttering up a bedroom. At this stage I think I'm happy to give it away free and gratis.

Yoink, I could use a bag like that, I've stil got my Dahon, it'd be handy to bring it down to Cork when visiting pals. Don't you want to Haggle? I'll gladly take it off your hands, I'll be up in Dublin on Tuesday, can met up then if it suits?

@JonDoe - it's yours so. Next Tuesday should be fine. As for haggling - I dunno. I gather they sell new for about €200 and I bought mine for €100 (it had only been used as a prop in a Dahon ad campaign shot in Dublin) but to be honest it's presence in the house has an ongoing (domestic) political cost so I'm not looking for money. Buy us a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc if you really want to give something but don't sweat it. I'm based in Phibsboro but could arrange to meet elsewhere in Dublin if necessary.

    Best
