How long does it take?

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows how long it usually takes for a company to come to a decision after an interview. I had an interview 3 weeks ago and it was pretty much in the bag according to the recruiter at the time. The interview couldn't have gone better, and I really felt that I had a great chance of landing the job. The company said that it would be a week before they would know as they had to inverview another few people.
I was talking to the recruiter a week ago and he said that the company are probably now looking for someone with a bit more experience. I think this was his way of telling me that I'm out of the running. But why not just say so? I then decided to send the interviewer a brief email, just reaassuring him that I am very keen on learning the new technologies etc etc. Thought I had nothing to loose at this point!
But I still haven't heard anything from either the company or the recruiter. Do they just not get back to you if you don't get the job?

    Anyone got any similar experiences?

It sounds like they have not made up their mind yet.

I think the best thing to do is accept things are out of your control at this stage and continue looking for other jobs...

True, all I can do is wait. But I won't be surprised if I still don't hear anything by the end of this week. It's becoming more commonplace where people just don't get back to you, even after doing an interview.
