Losing domestic water supply from well

Hi all hope someone can help, we have a well supplying water to the house, every now and again we lose the cold water supply.

By resetting the spring loaded pressure switch attached in line with the supply pipe the water in the taps comes on.

So it seems the in line pressure switch is not switching on automatically.
Is it a case of removing & replacing?

    Any help appreciated.

Hi, It's most likely your expansion vessel has lost some of it's air pressure.
That's where you need to start checking. Switch your pump off, open kitchen taps to drain down the pressure and then check the air pressure in the Expansion vessel using a tyre pressure gauge. Generally should be around 30 pounds. If it's low pump it up with a foot pump. See does that cure your problem.

Thanks expansion vessel is Grundfoss 50 litre & then 43 litre with bladder inflated, 2 bar written on vessel.

Water is OK at moment goes off mainly when washing m/c or dish washer on. In line pressure gauge now reads 2.5 bar or 36 p.s.i.

Will check vessel with tyre gauge.

Sounds like the pressure switch is clogged with dirt. Remove the head and clear the rubber diaphram opening. It usually does the trick. If it is faulty switch, then yes it is a simple swap over, just the head.

Thanks lads took the relay/valve off and there was about a 4mm dome of like a graphite material covering the valve I assume this had built up and was impurities in the water, cleaned off and all seems to be OK.

Will also check the expansion vessel when I get a pump with a gauge
