I noticed this in today's Irish Times promoting an article to be published tomorrow on the EU Fiscal treaty. (7th May 2012)

This inverted five pointed star symbol is usually synonymous with Freemasonry and the occult.

It would be interesting to see if this appears in the follow up. :)

I am not sure if this is a sinister detail or a genuine clip art clerical error but I believe a similar depiction once appeared on a poster.

Correct depiction of EU five pointed star.

It's worth pointing out that the second poster was a fake and has nothing to do with the EU.

Most Roman Catholics are oblivious to occult symbolism even if it jumped out right out infront of them

Of course, there's no chance that 'occult symbolism' could be derived from Catholic/Orthodox Christianity. No chance in hell. *cough*

What does the upside down cross mean to them?

    Some holy nonsense.
The Cross of St. Peter or Petrine Cross is an inverted Latin cross traditionally used as a Christian symbol, but in recent times also used widely as an anti-Christian symbol (a meaning which is not valid with respect to traditional conventions of Christian symbolism).

The origin of this symbol comes from the Catholic tradition that Simon Peter was crucified upside down, as told by Origen of Alexandria. The tradition first appears in the "Martyrdom of Peter", a fragmented text found in, but likely predating, the apocryphal Acts of Peter, which was written no later than 200 A.D. It is believed that Peter requested this form of crucifixion as he felt he was unworthy to be crucified in the same manner that Jesus died. As such, some Catholics use this cross as a symbol of humility and unworthiness in comparison to Jesus.

    The Inverted Cross

    Misunderstood By:

    Satanists, heavy metal bands.

Modern Satanism walks the narrow line between bona fide religion and juvenile attention-seeking farce; like the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, but with a lot more chains, hair dye and self-mutilation. Generally intended as a giant middle-finger to Christianity, Satanists deliberately adorn themselves with symbols that they think will inspire random people to try to give them a stern talking to.

One of the most popular Satanist symbols is the upside down cross, the reasoning behind which seems obvious enough. With the possible exception of that pentagram thing with the goat's head inside it, the inverted cross is the most immediately recognizable symbol of defiance against Christianity. It's certainly the easiest to tattoo onto your own face.

That's pretty hardcore. But there's only one man on Earth who is death metal enough to have an inverted cross carved into his own throne.

    Whoa, wait a second...

If those Satanists had paid attention in Sunday school, they would probably realize that the inverted cross is actually the personal trademark of Saint Peter, the first Pope, and one of the most revered figures in Catholic lore. When Peter was martyred by crucifixion he was said to have requested to be crucified upside down because he didn't feel worthy of dying the same way as Jesus. As a result, many dyed-in-the-wool Catholics actually consider the inverted cross to be a more acceptable thing to attach to your tacky jewelry than a regular right-way-up one.

"I'm more metal than you, Satanists!" - last words of St. Peter [apocryphal].

By wearing an upside-down cross, Satanists are unwittingly showing humility and unworthiness before Christ. That makes about as much sense as a neo-Nazi sticking it to the Jews by swearing off pork for life. Take that!

Satanist should stick to the pentagram.

Since we are on the topic of eastern stars and the west.
The religion i belonged to, believe that the UN will turn against babylon the great. aka all false religions.
Its a religion posing as christian but appears to have many zionist agendas.

That picture of the pope beside the all seeing eye for some reason provoked that memory(or maybe the mention of false prophet ) lol

You've already been told what your 'occult' symbol means and where it comes from.

Torakx - you've mentioned this a few times, do you mind if I ask what the religion was? Jehovah's Witnesses, or something similar?

Thanks for sharing that. It would be quite interesting to discuss with you your perspective on your former faith, but this probably isn't the best venue! :)

"New world translation" is their own bible print.
Its an interesting religion, alot of their beliefs run hand in hand with NWO Ct's imo.
Armageddon, a 1000 year reign, where everyone alive and ressurected has that time to become perfect under god,by rule of the 144,000(anointed) in heaven etc etc.
Sounds like a nice NWO gov to me and add the zionist foundations with a rejection of christs blood(only anointed partake of the passover) and you got an interesting religion to support the NWO,since according to their rules, they must stay out of politics etc.
"Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's" is a prevailant scripture.
    Feel free to quizz me.
Although as you said better to make a thread for it.
Maybe Monty, you could start a thread on religions and the NWO or something like that :D
