cistern not filling

I live in a ground floor apt. I recently had the pump replaced , no water was coming into the kitchen sink/washing machine. Now in order to fill the toilet cistern I have to turn on the sink in the bathroom, literally for 5 seconds and the cistern fills at a normal speed. Any ideas?

It sounds like one of 2 things.

1, You did not get a negative head pump so there is no pressure vessel to build up a back pressure

    2. There is an air lock that just needs to be clear.

Its an absolute guess based on little information. What make and model of pump have you got?
