Grand Prix travel cost mega thread

So I'm planning on making a trip to at least one of the grand prix this year and so far I've come up with a cost estimate for driving to Spa and Silverstone.

I'm aware that there's some previous threads around with cost estimates for other seasons, and they creep up from time to time so it would be ideal to maybe have a travel cost thread where we can centralise all of these estimates so that people can maybe review them, offer feedback or come up with cheaper or better alternatives.

So far I've got Silverstone and Spa driving from Dublin split 3 and 4 ways:

Silverstone 3 ways works out at €345.13 for the weekend, and Spa works out at €406.63.

The price assumes everything is split, the fuel is priced at €1.70 / litre, only general admission tickets are purchased and also a caping/parking ticket is also purchased.

Spa becomes better value that the general admission tickets give you better access to the circuit than Silverstone, but whether or not one circuit is a better experience than the other is completely subjective.

The break down of cost can is details in the following.

€569.42 for flights for the Austin grand prix this November. Haven't looked at the cost of general admission or accommodation. Catching the first grand prix at a venue would be exciting though.

Just picked up my tickets for the Historic Grand Prix this weekend in Monaco. Obviously I live here so no travel or accom costs. (Edit: €45 for a two-day pass)

For the real deal in 2 weeks time the only tickets left are €450 for the Race Day and €200-€220 for Saturday qualifying. Friday is free to everyone and Thursday is about €40-€50. If you book early enough you can pick up race tickets for about €250.

For future years Aer Lingus fly direct to Nice daily but there can be cheaper alternatives with a connection (Swiss, Lufthansa, KLM). Getting a place to stay is the killer.. small apartments are €4,000 for the weekend and upwards. I don't know about hotels but I guess they at least double their prices and the hotels here are crazy money without a Grand Prix.

The car rental isnt strictly needed for Barcelona. I went last year and the train is a really good option. Its only about 30 mins on it and it was pretty cheap and much quicker than driving. The city itself is very small so there isnt any advantage to having a car there either.

Where did you get the ferry fair so cheap? Cheapest I can find is €375 return for 3 people.

Any tips for a first time SilverStone goer?

Ferry is to Britan. 6 hour drive to the channel tunnel and probably something similar from Calais to Spa. A good days worth of driving so it would probably be best to have two drivers to break up the journey or else make the journey over two days.
