Hey, I was wondering if there are any motorbike or scooter owners who are attending nuim on boards? the reason I ask is that I would like to set up a motorbike club/soc on campus in September if there is enough interest. I've approached the SU about it and they've said that there is no problem setting one up, but I need a couple of people to form the committee.

Roughly the overall purpose of it would be for bikers on campus to get to know each other, to arrange outings, to facilitate members to avail of courses and training, (subsidised by the club or discounted), to promote biking, and to represent the biking community on campus.

if there is anyone out there whos interested could you pm me??

you might have more luck if you broaden it slightly to an NUIM motoring society, fair few lads into cars in maynooth and theres no society for it. Fair play for thinking of it though

thanks, I've noticed that there are a few bikes and scooters around campus, not a huge amount but theres a few people on campus using them, enough to form a small club/soc I reckon. I just don't know if they are students or staff, not that it matters. I might put flyers or notes on the bikes as I see them around!

There's a lad in final csse with a bike, and one in final physics as well, I think.
There's a third year engineering student with a thundercat, unless he's changed it, and his brother, who's second business, had a bros last year. Think he changed it recently, though.
Two of the engineering staff have bikes, and I think the red bike which is always outside science belongs to a staff member as well.
Oh, and one of the fourth year engineers. Can't forget him.
They're all the ones I know. Don't think any of them are on boards, though.

thanks for the info, you know loads of them!do you have a bike yourself? I'll have to try other ways of contacting people, at this time of year everyone is up to their neck in exams anyway.

it wouldn't be too hard to set it up, just fill out a few forms and come up with some ideas, see what people want to do and let it grow from there.

no, I've no bike. The fourth year engineer is my boyfriend, so I was mostly working off his knowledge.
Like Cartman said, you might want to look at a motoring rather than just bikes society as those that I've mentioned are either almost finished or mature students/staff for the most part, and they don't tend to be the most involved in clubs and socs.
    Good luck, though. :)

It does kinda look that way, doesn't it?
Not my fault. I don't even flipping like motorbikes. They're cold and dull and uncomfortable and the helmets are fuppin' annoying.
