Anyone Planted Alone,without forestry company?

    Hello Folks,

I will be planting a few hectares on good soil. Beech, oak or ash. I already got a forestry company to look at it and they were more than happy and have sent off my application to the department. Now, I have only seen the fella once a few months ago and since that I am finding it very hard to contact him. He didn't tell me much about the process.
Anyway, I have been investigating myself and feel in theory I know all the paperwork and official details.
My brother is a machine operator and has done moulding for hire before, years ago. He knows a good bit about planting and has said he would like to do mine. I understand I need to contract a registered forester(where can I get this list?) and he will be the one to sign off on the work etc. He will also guide me through the process. or will he? How much work will the forester actually do? Will he explain in detail to my brother exactly how and what he wants or needs? If he signs off on it at the end is there still a risk that a dept forester may fail it?
I realise this is a substantial investment investment on my/our part, but at the same time if my brother can make a little profit from it, I would sooner give it to him rather that a stranger. if you know what I mean.
So. before I go any further, I just want to get a little feedback from anyone who has actually done this themselves. All advice welcome.

    Many thanks,

    Eamon

    tks lads.

I have since uynderstood when the planting will take place but it would be nice if someone there had told me that. No reply to phone calls or e mails. Anyway it makes no difference to my possible plans.

does anyone here know the approx cost of planting? Good land, high ground, fertile. And the cost of the bare root stems? I will need 3300 per hectare.

    cheers

brother in law has couple of hundred acres planted he always does it himself he says u make more if u do it urself
he gets a forester to do all the plans and stuff he gets his brother in law and my father to plant them
he says most people go with the companies if they cant finance the planting themselves

dont know the costs mounding is where a digger turns over a piece of ground for the tree to be planted in the diggerman has to put the sods in straight lines and right spaceings to get the right amount per acre
