Got the 12.5kg bag of seed Aldi were doing, cheap enough but the birds dont seem to crazy about it, doves like it;) which I presume would indicate lots of wheat?
With this in mind I was thinking of making my own mix. I have rasin/sultans/sunflowers hearts/peanuts/odlums pinhead oats, what else would be good and where can it be got.
    Thanks

I also buy the peanuts and fill a large sock with them and break them up by hitting the sock for a minute or 2 and them add them to the mix. If you didnt break up peanuts they would be gone in notime. Hemp seed is very cheap but dont grow it (Man ! )

I'm trying to attract a wide variety of bird species to the garden since I got a chair-hide recently. Is there a list available of seeds/fruits that attract specific bird species?

Four18 do something similar to yourself but with the other halves old blender, breaks the peanuts down to 2-3m grains so no fear of young un's choking. Dont try blending the sultanas/raisins as I did, they go into a goo. Might try freezing them first next time.

Grey Eagle, if your like me and plagued by starlings or similar that eats everything that is not nailed down and starts a riot every time they arrive try putting you food into various hanging feeders, if your not then simply spread it around between a table and the ground below. I have three feeders, sunflower hearts, nyger seed (no takers yet but hoping it will attract the goldfinches) and a brand of seed called Peckish made by westland, their complete range. Reasonably priced and available from the local garden center 5KG approx €6.50

Blue/coal/great tit all seem to like the feeders
Dove/blackbird/thrush's chaffinich go for the ground food
