Reasoning? No one's going to back something because of someone just saying you heard it here first.

McCloskey is overrated, Corley is handpicked as he is not what he was.

McCloskey really struggled with Prescott (a very average fighter) and was given a generous home town decision.

Corley has lost his last few fights in controversial circumstances, and I think McCloskeys camp say his recent fight record and didn't dig much deeper.

Also Corley has supposedly backed threw alot of money on himself to win this via KO, former world champ, has fought the best (gave Mayweather an excellent fight) and my basic reasoning is that even an over the hill Corley is levels above McCloskey, who is extremely average.

    10/1 is a superb price

McCloskey has to be 1/6 for a reason. It's not as straight forward as it seems.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 752 ✭✭✭cup of tea

looking at his stats, its been a while since he's won a by knock out, in fact its been a while since he won a fight

    we'll see

Personally think the odds are ridiculous.

McCloskey can only lose by KO, as even if hes clearly outpointed he'll get a home town decision on points.

Corley via KO I tells ya :D

Good luck with it!. After you starting the thread and me going through the stats I've gone the other way and gone McCloskey by KO,TKO or DQ :p

Also if you feel Corley has a good edge on points because of a H.D it 16/1 on BF to win by points.

    ;)

€20 on a Corley KO for me.

Corley has been in with far better opposition and can definately hurt McCloskey who is a domestic level fighter.

for what its worth, Corley has a record of losing 3 out of his last 4 fights, when in reality he outpointed all of these guys and was a victim of hometown decisions. The fight in Russia was scandalous when he won every round and lost a UD by a wide margin.

McCloskey was out on his feet at times against Prescott in his last fight, and Prescott is still a level below Corley.

he'll need to stop McCloskey to win and he will. His previous fights will show him that he cannot try and outbox him in his hometown, hes gunna be looking for a haymaker all night, and mccloskey's chin is suspect.

Gonna stick a bet on McCloskey Round 1-3, based solely on him been favored so highly as overall winner.

I have not followed boxing stats in years, so have no idea what I am doing.

Odds dropped a good bit after I backed it, so traded out a good bit for profit

Ah no matter what happens was a decent bet. No way McCloskey should have been that short judging on the first two round.

Corley leaking blood from his nose now, start of round 3. Heres a link for anyone that wants to watch it that doesn't have SS http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/122784/1/watch-skysports-fight-night-:-paul-mccloskey-vs-julio-diaz.html

well hes a south paw with a ridiculously low guard, and hes fighting another south paw so hes always open to being tagged with a hard left. could be the first round could be the last.

looks like the nose is broken now aswell

McCloskey looks a bit rubbish to be honest. No idea why he is such a strong favourite :/

McCloskey's defence is ridiculous at the best of times

Always open to haymakers, he sees himself as a reflex fighter which only works for the very best, or at least the fundamentally sound fighters

The more they show that replay, I think that stoppage was justified. McCloskey was falling about like jelly

was a poor stoppage, the ref was caught in two minds aswell. should have given him a standing count

    but hey i'm not complaining

it's been a pleasure folks

4am i'd say, great card aswell in the build up.

People used to say betting on Floyd was the closest thing to free money as you can find but at odds of 1/8 its hardly worthwhile, he'll win on points i reckon.

You post in the liverpool thread don't ya?

If I remember correctly, didn't you make a thread on here before tipping some MMA fighter to win at like 7 or 8/1?

And he won aswell, you are quite the tipster, keep them coming :)
