Hi all, anyone out there use these, just bought them and they look and feel fantastic and looking to improve my game. Got them to my spec and am an 11 handicapper thats hit a wall. Have been playin with 16yr old clubs so upgrade was def needed. (these one better last as long with the price tag:) Q. Are they really only for low handicappers? Has technology really improved that much in the last 16yrs in the irons that will make me improve?

Nice purchase. Should you not of been asking these questions beforehand ? ;-)

I think if your a good enough ball striker the irons will be no problem for you to hit, Every low handicapper was higher at one stage so I never judge people on their handicap. I have seen scratch golfers with a very average swing and ball striking ability and I have also seen lots of high handicappers with amazing ball striking ability but very poor short game etcetc.

If you have been fitted for them then I assume you have hit them lots of times and like the feel of them, along with a pro suggesting other options if they did not suit.

Enjoy them and best of luck !!

I got the new 712 ap2 in january there, my hcap has dropped from 18.2 to 14.1 since march there so theres ur answer. Not as forgiving as some as the GI clubs but not as unforgiving as blades etc. If you're a half decent ball striker ul be fine with them, great clubs btw!!! :)

The heads on those irons have a lovely shape, was looking at them recently, good choice. They aren't only for low handicappers at all, they are quite a forgiving club. If I was changing irons they would certainly be on my shortlist.

Seriously considering getting these. I got fitted for irons recently and think I liked the AP2s the best, funny thing is I don't remember looking like this http://www.titleist.com/golf-clubs/irons/AP2.aspx  Just don't look familiar but I'm certain they were these
If ye don't mind me asking, what was the damage for a set? :)

Possible, but it's the look of them from above that doesnt look familiar. Both 710 and 712 look the same. Could've been MBs or CBs that I hit

I was undecided between the AP2s and the Mizuno JPX Pro 800s recently.

Went with the JPX Pros and really happy with them, fantastic irons... can't go wrong with Titleist or Mizuno imo.

Personally I don't see the appeal in the looks department, they're a big clunky type of iron and remind me for some reason of the old Callaway Big Bertha irons. In terms of Titleist aesthetics I'd much prefer the Titleist CB 712 irons or if your ball striking is good the Titleist MB 712 irons.

Ehh guessing ur referring to the jpx there yeah?

No have never seen the Mizuno JPX in the flesh, was referring to the Titleist AP2 which I'm not a fan of aesthetically. Just my view and realise people keep raving about them both in the looks and performance departments.

ehh the 712 ap2 are not bulky in any way shape or form, their dimensions are practicaly IDENTICAL to the cb which you just mentioned so it makes no sense to me tbh, the callaway big bertha irons are twice the size!

They are a bit chunky, lack a little feel too compared to a pure MB.. But compared to the nearest Forged MB competitors they are quite a good bit more forgiving, there is quite a bit gap the feel/performance area and they slot in there really well, makes them pretty hard to ignore for aspiring amateur golfer.

Yep, and if you're an aspiring tour pro too ;) Nick Watney, Mannasero, Jason Dufner to name a few. And unless your mcilroy i cant see how anyone could describe them as "chunky", unless you like a seriously seriously thin topline like whats on the MP 68/69 etc. The topline on the AP2 is thin and the sole is also about as thin as you would get on a players cb

Suppose it's all relative really, I'm sure some of the guys here that are playing longer than us are the people that would notice it most. If you go pre 2006 players irons, they nearly all (including the CB) have thinner top lines.

Some guys would look down at AP2/MP-59's and feel like they a swinging a shed, but they are definitely not bad to look at as you say.

There is a quote from Nick Faldo(I think) saying he found some of his old irons in his garage and though "I must have been good if I was able to hit them"..!

lol you're picking the smallest toplines for non bladed irons money can buy, the mp 59 are razor thin aswell, i dont think any golfer in the world would describe them as a shed.. We all know the blades from yeas ago were tiny, off topic :)

    Everyone to their own!
I consider myself very fussy about the looks of an iron and think the AP2 strikes a decent balance between the looks and the usability. I haven't got them (yet... want though) - currently use 735CM. Of course the muscle clubs look fantastic but the AP2 will be more help to the likes of me who let's face it, need to make the game easier rather than harder. They have a bevel on the top line which makes it look very neat IMO and comparing them to an old bertha is a bit of a wide.

I was a blades player back in the day when I could play and I like the smaller heads. I certainly wouldn't call AP2 irons clunky, they are not at all like the Callaway clubs. I think the AP2's look quite elegant at address, one of the nicest heads of the GI type of clubs, and look alot less clunky to me than the JPX pros.

Actually I think you'll find that there is very little difference between the two irons in terms of shape, size etc.

the JPX's did look thicker to my eye and not as elegant at address as the other Mizuno MP irons or the Ap2's.

Went into Nevada Bobs today to investigate whether they were the clubs I hit during my fitting. I think they were the ones alright. Not as clunky as I thought in fact a little less clunky than my callaway x-16s.
Fairly decent price too for 4-PW - €699.

The game improvement JPX 800s are definitely a clunky looking iron, but the JPX 800 Pros are definitely a sexier beast!

First round played with them yesterday evenin, i could notice the difference straight away, no major score posted but it'll come. Def not chunky IMO. I caught a few sweet and the ball flight on them is def a little different from before. Really happy with the purchase, also got 910D driver what a weapon!!!!!! Single figure here i come! (hopefully:rolleyes:)
