Acer Iconia Tab 510

    Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you knew anything about the release of this in Ireland or the UK. I noticed that it was for sale on Amazon.co.uk with an arrival date of 2-4 weeks but when I went to purchase it today it was no longer on sale. I also noticed that Pixmania.ie is no longer selling it either (the page in fact no longer exists). I can't seem to find many other places that sell it (was hoping Komplett would sell it but they don't seem to stock it). In fact the Acer website (Irish/UK site) doesn't even have a listing for it.

Does anyone know if they were recalled (I was aware of the battery heating up after 1/2 an hour of 3d gaming) or if they have pushed the European release date back again?

I was hoping to either get this or the new Asus TF300 but was gearing towards the Acer tab as the speakers seem to be better (I'll be using it to watch videos on) and I don't want to spend my money on the Asus if the Acer is going to be back in a week or two.

    Sam

Pixmania still have it here (Silver). In stock soon.

I am looking to get a tablet as well & narrowed it down to the Acer Iconia A510. Asus TF300 & the Sony S Tablet.I wouldd prefer the Acer so I guess I'll have to wait. I have no problem with that. I had a play with the Sony yesterday & thought it was great. Really like the shape but would prefer a tab with HDMI out. It appears the Sony has DMLA which is wireless which I don't want.

There seems to be a delay in the Acer arriving for some reason. If its good enough its worth waiting for.

Thanks amdaley28. I was after the Black version (all my other electronic devices are black ) but it looks like there might not have been a black version in the first place.

I guess I can wait a bit longer (I have been waiting to get a tablet now for a little over a year). I think I might have read somewhere that some high street stores were going to stock it at the end of May but that might have been the in relation to the asus tablet.

There was definitely a black version because I've got one. Strange that it's disappered off Pixmania.

I know some people got theirs from the States & elsewhere but I didn't realise it was out over here. Maybe there was only a few released.

I personally would not now go for any Tegra 2 device having owned the Galaxy Tab 10.1......the simple reason being that Tegra 2 cannot handle high bit rate MKV files like 720p Blu-ray rips....most if not all that I tried on the 10.1 stuttered :-( I loved it apart from that and the sound was good too but a major let down it could not play the high def stuff without faltering....

Any new tablet with a Tegra 3 can handle this sort of content without breaking a sweat :-)

    Cheers,
    M
