Right so folks, I want to get your opinions on this one! I could post up here what I thought of the SU this year, but, seeing as most of the SU know who I am, and would hence claim anything I said was favouritism or me saying it because I didn't like them personally, I want you to express your opinions about them, and I can back you up if yours are the same as mine! Now, we had a good few SU officers this year, and I shall list them below!
    President- Emmet Connolly
    Vice-President/Education- Conor Healy
    Vice-President/Welfare- Brian Grant
Irish Language Officer- Senan Mac Aoidh
    Equality Officer- Will O'Brien
Mature Students Officer- Mark Pierce (Resigned)
    SU Council Chairperson- Claire McCallion
    Societies Chairperson- Paul O'Connor
    Clubs Captain- Eamon Flynn
Science Convenor- Saoirse Nic A'Bhaird (won in by-election)
    Arts Convenor- Kevin Donoghue
    Engineering Convenor- Alan Callery
    Law and Commerce Convenor-Aoife Reaney
    Medicine Convenor- Matthew Sheridan (resigned)
    Student Development Officer- Cian Moran
    Postgrad Officer -Richeal Burns

Cian Moran - Student Development Officer

    and it's Saoirse Nic A'Bhaird

Also, how would any of the SU know who you are from your 6 posts on boards.ie?

I was wondering that - but if you look at the posts, it would seem that if the people on the SU knew him, then it should be fairly easy to work out who he is.
Assuming, that is, that he is not talking out his backside.

I'd say the two who stood out for me were Brian Grant and Senan MacAoidh.

Granty puts in a trojan amount of work, always around doing one thing or five, always very responsive and helpful to anyone I've talked to that dealt with him on welfare issues. Was left running the show a few times during the year including during the full time elections and done a great job, really enjoys his role too which is important.

Senan has been a fantastic Irish officer, not just in NUIG but nationally he's heavily involved in promoting the language. All year he's been involved in campaigns promoting gaeilge and culture and many say he's been the best Irish officer the university ever had.

Seo e mo dha cents...(ficheall can tidy that up, also fadas wont work on safari).

    +1

Grant and Senan were probably the best at their respective jobs in year.
Emmet was also very good as Education officer and I'd say he was the best president since I started college in 2007 although the president's job is a hard to one to keep an eye on.

Yeah +1 for Emmet, the RAG week was ultimately the right thing and helped alot of students in the end run and the people who wanted a RAG week, did. Used experience to take hold and keep together of a very turbulent union at times and did it well.

Grant definately a welfare officer that successive welfare officers should aspire to emulate, same goes for the previous welfare officer, Emma. He came in with an open mind and an enthusiasm to help students and did so with keen interest in helping and was energetic throughout with it being a tough job at times and held up that consistently throughout the job. Many who keep an eye on the union thought he wouldn't be effective and he quickly silenced the nay-sayers. I'm looking forward to seeing him as Postgrad officer for next year.

Senan definately has been again an hard working and enthusiastic officer and definately one of the best part-timers we've had in recent years.

I think Richeal was pretty effective in her role too and did some great work for Postgrads.

While Will has a marmite effect with most, he did very good work for the Equality week to see it get far more interest than previous Equality weeks as far as I could see...

Also, the staff, Chris, Joanna and Natasha definately deserve a shoutout who are helpful and happy to help with any issue :)
