Will a 10 speed chain work on 8 speed front chainrings?

    Folks,
I have an 8 x 3 Sora clad bike and want to swap the rear mech/cassette/chain/shifters for a 10 speed rear mech/cassette/chain/shifters - will the front chainrings be OK to use with the narrower 10 speed chain?
If not can I get narrower chain rings suitable for the chain - what should I look for in terms of chain ring thickness?
    Thanks.

Should work. The internal width of 8,9 and 10 speed chains is identical, it is the outside width that is narrower with the higher speed chains.

The gaps between the chainrings might be a bit larger. It should work, but I've had a 10 speed chain slip down between the chainrings before (only twice though) under real load, anticipate your shifts and you should be ok.

    Tks for the advice.
I have a (mad perhaps) idea to just have one ring on the front ...
Currently have a 52/42/30 triple (with 12-26 rear) but I can do all of my commute with the 42 except a few downhill sections where I use the 52. I plan to use a 11-28 cassette which will give me a lower climbing gear and a higher top gear for the 42 chain ring.
I'm not sure how good/bad the chainline will be but any advice on this would be welcome.
