First of all let me apologise for my lack of knowledge on this topic - investments are not my strong point, but any advice or help would be appreciated.

I done a thread previously here about how I inherited approximately ten thousand FBD shares from my uncle in the last year. So far everything is fine, I've paid the Capital Acquisitions tax etc. On that thread and as per FBDs website I was informed that I would be due approximately 3.5k in two dividends payments over the course of the year - one in May and one in October. So as its May and I hadn't received anything to date yet, I was thinking more about it this morning. Through the link on their website I registered with www.computershare.com by inserting my name and shareholding reference number. When I went to payment history it said the payment for May 2012 was still processing and that the total amount due to me is for 153.82 euros. As from previous advice obviously I was expecting a lot more than that. It was then that I checked the holdings summary where it says my balance for Ordinary Share euro 60 cents is 827. Am I missing something here? Should this not correlate to the 10,369 ordinary shares I own or why does it state 827? Is it a mistake on their part and do I need to contact them?

Again sorry for all the questions I'm not very well informed about shareholding and I guess I'm a little disappointed I'm due so little when I was expecting more as I'm especially stuck for it at present as I lost my job last month

I would ring Computershare, if you have no joy there FBD have appointed a head of investor relations, Peter Jackson is his name. YOu will get a number on the FBD group website, not the FBD sales site. www.fbdgroup.com I'd do it fairly sharpish, if they are paying out the divi, it will be a bigger hassle to get it changed after the fact.

as far as I know there are two types of FBD shares, the quoted PLC and an unquoted company. Phone computershare and ask which type you have or contact your local FBD office and they will give you a contact name

10,000 FBD shares are worth approx e85,000

forget about the yield and sell some!
see how that makes you feel

Ok I just found out the shares are 11% non cumulative preferences shares which as far as I could understand from the guy on the phone means I get a once yearly agreed dividend payment a year sometime in August. The sum is considerably less than the 3k mark if I had the standard ordinary shares(somewhere around the 1k mark for this year as it was also last year). Does this sound right? Can I change from non cumulative preference shares or what are the pros of owning these type of shares as compared to standard ordinary shares?
