Okay, I know it's not the end of film, but this would be a handy thing to have along side your old film camera, were it to be made

I think this warrants it's own thread, as I want to see what people think of this.

Would you buy it, do you think it is a good design?

Unless it a Full frame size sensor, I wouldn't bother with it.

I was excited the first time I saw it. Thought it was a real product for a day.

Oh, and it would never be thin enough to fit in my Leica IIIf. Which would be the camera I would really want it for.

They've had digital back on larger format cameras for years now. It was only a matter of time before it got to 35mm.

I think it's a positive idea. It will mean all those delightful old 35mm bodies will find a new use. If only they all had stock dimensions for a universal fit ;)

    Hopefully you can buy themin 12, 24 & 36 shot capacities :)

Don't forget guys, this is a concept, so there is still the possibility it will be modified to accommodate the slimer models

The IIIf is a slot loader. The slot is slightly wide then twice the thickness of 200 iso film. :(

But, agree that it would keep a lot of fine old engineering out of the scrap heaps.

it's not just that it's a concept, there's the issue that this has been explored several times before and there's probably loads of patents out on this concept, so it could get messy.

and there's always that story i have heard a couple of times which has it that there was a company nearing a workable solution for this about ten years ago, which were bought up by sony who buried the patents; because sony had no previous presence in the SLR market, they would not benefit from all those old film SLRs suddenly becoming useful again, and reigniting people's allegiance with nikon or canon or olympus or whatever.
whether you choose to believe this, though...
