Bootcamp on 10.5.8

Has anyone got an easy guide on how to install bootcamp on my Macbook?
I want to do the Tactx animator on the UEFA website but it won't run coz of the java incompatibility.

Do I need physical things like a Windows 7 installation CD? I have a 320gB hard drive.

My Macbook is running 10.5.8. How much space will I need? I only have 15gB on my internal hard drive so I'm guessing some cleaning up will need to be done.

I have time machine set up with my external HDD. Is that enough back up incase it all goes arse ways?

    What Java incompatibility?

Solving that will be a lot easier than installing Windows unless you need Windows for other things too.

U would get better results with 10.6 installed . Bootcamp was more stable on that OS . Here is the FAQ for that http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3777

    However if u can't locate a 10.6 disk.
For 10.5 this is the Bootcamp FAQ http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1656

That probably wasn't the correct phrase!

    Quote from the UEFA website:
Please note that TactX does not run on Mac OS X due to restrictions with Java software and will only work on systems running Windows with the latest Java updates.

Restrictions was the word I was looking for.

Wow UEFA suck so hard, that is a nonsense excuse. But besides the point. Java is cross platform I do not see why the hell it would not work on OSX.

If I was you I would try it on OSX first, because I would be shocked if it did not work. They probably heard that Apple deprecated Java and did not know what that actually means so stated it will not work on OSX.

I did try it. At first I got to the downloading packages page and then a white blank screen. I left it for a while coz it says the first load might be slow. I came back and there was red writing, something about an applet.
Now when I try and load in, I just get a black screen.

    It also says
VM software such as Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion that run Windows within OS X should be able to run TactX.

Fair enough. They must be doing something deliberate to block it because I see no reason why an Applet would not run on all operating systems that support Java (which 10.5 definitely does in all cases unless disabled)

I'm having a problem at the mo.

Trying to install winXP SP3 on a 2009MBP running 10.6.8.

Anyhow it installs apparently ok, but when it tries too boot windows it is failing to file the disk. Also even though it says 'press any key to reboot' it doesn't recognise keypresses and I have to press the power button.

This same machine had the same version of winxp running on it before with no problems under bootcamp. The mac partition runs fine.

What am I missing here ?

Googled the part "disk error- press any key to reboot" and it seems it could be keyboard related .. Are u using a diff keyboard to before ? http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1330153

Cheers but that's not the same. If I reboot it I can use the key C key and option key etc etc

Also it is the same keyboard

Ok fixed it by booting from osx - apparently the keyboard was workign before it was crapping out. Anyhow reinstalled winnt and this time instead of accepting default FAT32 I reformatted the partition as NTFS and it worked fine :)
    Happy now:cool:
