Are these any use? Just got less than 100km out of a Schwalbe Ultremo before the sidewall got sliced open. Popped into lbs who recommended these, but online reviews suggest they're very prone to punctures. Anyone any experience with them?

I got a pair a few weeks back. 6 days before a screw went through the sidewall of one and rendered it fit only for the bin, but I may just have been unlucky. It's a pity because I was really liking them.

Hmmm. That doesn't sound great. Any other recommendations?

I use them on the commuter, and got the whole winter training out of them. My impressions are better than the gatorskins on my previous commuter and not as nice as the open corsas on the race bike.
To be honest, a screw through the sidewall of any tyre will render it useless so I fail to see any other outcome than the bin.

Panaracers puncture protection is rather good in my experience. I've the fatter and bigger pasela on my tourer and its performed fine through dublin and the rest of the country.

by any chance, was this lbs in Galway?

No. Dublin. In fairness, no matter what tyre you search for, you'll find someone who's had a nightmare with them. Reckon I'll throw them on and see how they go.

Given that the OP in Lucan, I would imagine Staggs, who sell Panaracer stuff. Surprisingly (or reality perhaps not) they never heard of the pasela TG tyre when I mentioned it to them even though there dealers of their stuff

Is this for racing or commuting?

Well they're going on the good bike, but I'm not a racer. Used for club spins and sportives.

They roll well with a good psi but are a little puncture prone

I would go for the Veloflex corsa then, the tire in combination with latex tubes is pure porn. It will give you less kms than the competition but they will be more enjoyable kms.

I don't think anyone stocks them in Ireland so your best bet is probably http://www.bike-palast.com/

I couldn't recommend panaracers to anyone . I've used the closer or the evo race for about a year and should really have given up using them long before I did, they are very prone to punctures so much so that my local lbs is going to stop stocking them .

I disagree. I have had the evo 3s for ages and the closers for a short while. I love these and have had very few punctures with them in the past nearly two years. Great bit of kit IMO.

Rode sligo 100km today on closers, another puncture, coming off the bike, sick of them, before anyone asks, I'm a light guy, wheels are fine, pressure correct
