Sony Vaio Laptop Problem

Not sure if this is the right section, The mods can move it if its incorrect!

Anyway, last night I shut down my laptop normally. It installed some updates and shut down no problem.
Today, I packed up my laptop and headed home from my college house to my hometown. Around 1 hour ago I tried starting my laptop and It seemed to be booting up perfectly but, the screen wasn't turning on. I t was just blank. nothing was coming on the screen. I knew it was starting up perfectly because I could hear it booting up and it made the windows start up tune as well.

I tried 3 hard resets to see if that would fix the problem but nothing happened other than what happened the first time. My first two thoughts were it was either a corrupted driver or the BIOS. I tried F8 during boot up but nothing happened. So I tried connecting it to my TV via VGA and bingo, the screen was displayed on the TV but was still blank on the laptop. I then proceeded to check the drivers and make sure it wasn't a software problem, which I have now established it isn't. I have even tried a system restore to yesterday when it was working perfectly and it still doesn't work. The only 2 things I can think of now are it's either the LCD backlight in the screen is burnt out or a loose connection to the screen inside the laptop. It shouldn't be the backlight as I just got a screen replacement 6 months ago. The laptop is also less than a year old.

Any help is greatly appreciated thanks"

Look for a Fn+F8 type combination (may not be F8 on Vaio) to switch between internal/external screen.

I know about and have tried this. It doesn't work. Duplicate should have both screens with the same images but the laptop remains blank.
