Bressie does my head in. Heard a clip from the voice where he's telling someone "I'm going to take you world wide"... Here Bressie, why didn't you take yourself or your band world wide?

Never heard of either of them

I think he got Breslin or whoever the hell he is pretty spot on there... but he's also a mansize cocktail sausage with the intellect to match. No winners here kids.

Edit: My bad, mixing him up with that other literary genius Ian O'Doherty. Carry on.

Lol I had a good chuckle at that. I enjoy the scathing attacks MOD makes on the Irish Z list.

Hmmm he was in an indie band that turned pop and realised that he could be more famous and rich if he was on his own without having to split up those damn royalties, that about covers it yeah?

I met him once, nice enough chap, but that was during the blizzards days. He's sold out, he knows it, and everyone else knows it but he wont admit it.

I have very little real interest in Michaels subject matter and area of expertise, but i do find him entertaining and he he does hit the nail often.

I actually have no idea who Bressie is. I've heard people talking about him and I know he was on one of the music reality shows but that's about it - therefore I can't and won't judge. O' Doherty on the other hand is a cock. I met him in person few years back and he was a cock then too. I didn't actually know who he was - it had to be explained to me but if I met him again now I would gladly tell him that he's a cock.

    That is all.

typical Ireland really. Nobody slams other nobody who is having 15 minutes of fame.

Sold out? Please. I would happily sell out if someone offered me the gig that Bressie is getting. No real opinion on the guy but I know that he was in a band, in an industry that is quite tough to get a break in for that type of act, and probably put the hard yards in. So if someone offered him a quicker way to a few euro, then what odds.

Soon there will be another person for everyone to criticise, probably someone who misses a penalty or gets sent off in Euro 2012.

Is there not an 'Entertainment' section on Boards for this muck?

I honestly never heard of any of these two individuals on the 'Entertainment' pages of one of Tony O'Reilly's official tabloids (as opposed to the Sunday Independent which is tabloid in its quality rather than size). Checked the article and saw somebody named "Bressie" without seeing a full name and came to the conclusion that the author is an idiot with no desire to inform a general readership and appealing solely to a readership which has so much to do in life that it knows "entertainment" figures by nicknames and finds all that dross about "celebrities" interesting.

As a general rule, anything in a media outlet owned by O'Reilly or O'Brien is complete muck. I'm trying hard to think of an exception, and there really isn't one. Alas for Ireland.

I'd say it was more pop then indie, and in fairness as much as i despise the term "sell out" ..."bressie" did not sell out ...as one would need a certain amount of crediblity in the first place.
THe chap likes music, he's got looks....he's mixing the two and good luck to him...

    Relax mate.
It's an article to have a giggle at. No need to go listing who owns it.

It's easy to say all that on an anonymous blog while sat in front of your one-bar heater. He's the fifth biggest gobshite in Ireland.. which is more than any of you bedsit dwelling nerds have achieved! ;)

I guess I had heard of him after all.. didn't know who he was back then either :pac:

I was more referring to the insinuation that knowing celebrities by nickname is for uneducated tabloid reading plebs........ I think we all know who Bono is.

Careful you don't fall over. That chip in your shoulder seems to be getting worse.

And I'd rather be considered an ignorant tabloid-reading pleb than a know it all dry arse who takes even the most lighthearted threads far too seriously.

As a woman, I agree wholeheartedly. Bressie is an absolute roide of the highest order, no doubt about it! That said, before I knew what he or any of the Blizzards band members looked like, I did like their music. I also liked the Good Intentions song before I knew it was Bressie's.

The man is good looking and knows it. He takes absolute advantage of that, but a lot of people would do the same. He wants to make it and always has, and unfortunately the only way to do that is to 'sell out' and go down the commercial route. He capitalised on the fact that The Voice, as cheesy and manufactured as it is, would cater to a large audience and now he's reaping the reward - he is a household name in Ireland.

I think he's got more artistic merit than say...that guy from Westlife who's also on the panel as he writes his own music as well as performing it. Yes, Westlife were a huge band with worldwide success and millions in the bank, but let's be real - they mostly sang covers and were nothing more than manufactured puppets who could sing. Bressie isn't exactly what I'd call a true artist or musician but he's got more talent IMO than a lot of other commercialised acts. That said, since he's left the Blizzards and gone it on his own, his music has become more and more manufactured and cheesy, but the reality is he'll have more success that way.

Other than fancying the literal pants off of him, I wouldn't be too bowled over with his artistic profile we'll say.

The lad should enjoy it while it lasts, and why not, he'll be yesterday's news and out of fashion in a few years. The band is already peaked and bressie is going to try and stretch another couple of years out of it, and sure why not.

As bad and all as tubs is, bressie is not a viable replacement.

Let's not get carried away, he's a one trick pony, he's almost out of his depth on the voice as it is.
(Then again so are some of the other presenters on the voice.)
