I've not played in years so may as well be a beginner again.

One thing I do know if that my guitar needs new strings. Is there anywhere on the northside of Dublin that sells strings or do I have to make my way to town?

The last time I played and needed to get strings he asked me what type. I said acoustic and he said what type, there are three different kinds we have.
Me being young and not having a clue bought a set of each :pac:
Can anyone recommend a set for me to start out on again, taking into account that my fingers are now soft cotton and will be paining me after about 10 minutes of play :D

Any other recommendations I should think of would really be appreciated :)

Let people know the type of guitar you have, and more general details and they can give a more accurate recommendation.

You could check out www.strings.ie The guy posts here. He is very helpful and would advise you if you contact him.

If you build up your playing time gradually, you should not suffer too much with sore fingers.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I currently own an oldish Epiphone PR-350CE.

Still in great condition though :)

Might be worth your while leaving it in for a service, if it's been lying around for years
theres "The music outlet" in swords if its near to you.
They do most stuff & very reasonable as well

11's are about as low as you'd want to go on an acoustic.

if the guitar is worth a few bob, it would be worth getting a pro set up.

This is probably a good idea alright. In Santry myself so I'll drop up at the weekend and take a look. Cheers.
