    Hey,

No-one can really say for sure what the points will be
Just checking, do you know how the points system works? No-one sits down and sets points. The people who apply are all put in a list according to their LC results and then the top 20 (or however many places there are) get in. The points published in the papers and the prospectuses are just the points of the last person on this list to get in.
If you already knew that, sorry for bothering you with it again. A surprising amount of people don't, though, and think the colleges set these points.

That said, it is worth noting that a lot of courses (esp Maths, Science, Engineering) may go up by 25 this year because of the 25 bonus points for Honours Maths.

It will depend on demand for the course and on who applies. You can use last year's points as a guideline (and maybe +25 for Higher Level Maths) though.
    Good luck :)

Does anyone have any idea what the points might be for BESS and the points for law?

For courses with very competitive entry requirements and limited spaces (Health Sciences, Law e.t.c.) or courses that require HL Maths add 25 points and then +/- 5 points to account for demand.

For other courses that don't necessarily require HL Maths and have fairly standard points requirements, account for a rise. It's impossible to say what way it will go and to what extent as there are so many variables but I think it's safe to say that HL Maths will make the general trend an increase.

I understand that it's hard to predict but I'm hearing that law is making a comeback this year. However my friends in trinity say that the points are set to drop further, I'm not really sure what to believe.

To be honest university students aren't really the best people to predict point trends, it's your fellow CAO applicants that are going to set the points. Keep an eye on the newspapers they generally run articles on what courses are getting higher first preferences, and what ones are becoming unpopular.

"For the first time in five years CAO applications to Law have increased. This is reflected in the 25% increase in first preference applications to Law in Trinity College."

Keep an eye on data released, like this. Unless there is a major problem (like an overly hard/easy paper), these figures normally reflect if a course will increase in points (thought it may not be as drastic as the original statistics predict).
