Unsure about antenna options

Looking at http://www.techtir.ie/radio-tv/uhf-aerials, I see that they suggest 2 x SR18 (or even 4 x) to pick up NI digital as well as Clermont (C/D antenna). I have to assume that's correct. So does that mean I should replace the older antenna on the pole to two of the long spikey ones connected together somehow? Would your average installer know how to do that? I'm not too concerned about the price (concerned, but not *too* concerned), but more about whether it's needed and if it's actually technically feasible and if I could get someone willing & able to do this in the Drogheda area.

Replace what exactly? If you're receiving from Kilkeel, there won't be any digital there until October.

Best wait until after October and see what you get. You may be OK with your current setup.

I guess I'll wait. I already pick up some of the NI transmissions, but I don't know which transmitter is sending them. Many of them are flakey, with pixellation and drop-outs, etc. which is why I asked.

    Thanks for the replies.

An installer with a decent meter & a bit of know-how would have no problem combining or "ganging" aerials, though I don't know how they'd react to being told to use that particular method.

The technique was also used (moreso in the UK, I would think) to reject unwanted signals & cure "ghosting" problems on analogue, rather than purely increasing aerial gain.
