    Hi All

Have read the FAQ's but I can't find the answer to my question. Was hoping someone may be able to help me out.

My mother in law has reduced her hours volutarily from 5 days a week to 3 days a week. (1 of the days being a sunday, if that matters.) My question is: I know that she is not able to claim as she did this voluntarily but is she entilted to claim after a certain amount of time for the other 2 days. She reduced hours to look after our son after I went back to work after maternity leave. Any info appreciated.

she might be able to claim for job seekers allowance/benefit after 9 weeks, but only if she is looking for a new job, not if she is minding a baby.

She has to be available for full time work to claim jobseekers. If she is minding a child and this was the reason for the reduction in hours, she won't be viewed as being available for and looking for full time work.
