Timing belt replacement

    whats the average cost of a replacement? ive gotten a few quotes of 380 to 460 for belt, pump etc . its a 02 fiesta with about 87000 miles on it or is it ok for another few thousand miles

    Should be changed every 100,000 miles or 10 years so its due now.

    You should be able to get it done a bit cheaper then you've been quoted. We'd normally be E350 for that engine, full kit with water pump.

    No need to change the water pump with the timing belt on these because it is not driven by the timing belt. The pumps also give little or no trouble. So I would recommend just changing the timing belt kit and leave the pump alone. We do them for €220-250 depending on how long it takes to remove the crank pulley bolt. They can be pretty tight to say the least.

    ive an weekend car its an 01 mx5 with 18,000 miles on it
    the belt is due a change how much would it be?

    We did one this time last year on a 1.8 rs model. Total cost was €270 for the timing belt kit and new auxiliary belts.

    Just wondering about a 2000 Clio le sport 1.2 with 36k on the clock?

    If it has never been done I suggest you get it done ASAP. The recommended interval is 72k miles or 4 years, whichever comes first. Cost depends on whether it is 8v or 16v.

    Around €300-350 should cover parts and labour (kit, pump, coolant and aux belt) depending on where you get the parts.
