Should eBay always send a 'Your item has been shipped' mail?

I ordered an item on Tuesday from the UK and I was hoping to receive it for the bank holiday weekend but I noticed that although I have a confirmation of my order and an invoice there is no notification that the item has been shipped, and I think on a previous purchase I did receive one?

I have contacted the seller, but while I wait perhaps someone here could put my mind at ease!

It's up to the seller to hit the item sent button, some sellers don't bother as they send so much it's hard to keep track or they just don't bother.

I wouldn't worry about not receiving the email though as for me at least I don't always get one but still get my item.
