Nuisance Neighbour during construction

I have recently started an extension and renovation but have encountered a neighbour that is laying down his law. I have preped my immediate neighbours but he lives about 10 doors away so I couldn't have anticipated his inconvenience.

There is a shared laneway that I have the right to use, but his house is at start of the laneway. Last week he stopped the delivery of aggregate from what he considered a truck to big for the laneway until he had met and spoken to me. I duly obliged him and let him have his way, asking the builder to make sure the delivery trucks were not as big. He was talking about traffic management for the construction work. It's not like I'm building a new house!

Now another member of the family is complaining about the noise of the dumper going up and down the lane way. Work is within the hours specified on the planning approval, working between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

Do they have a case? can he delay the schedule?

If the laneway is public consider contacting the Gardai. If it is private/shared consider obtaining legal advice to effectively assert your shared (with him) rights.

A nicely worded letter to all affected neighbours may help too.
