Demand for Council Tax

    Firstly sorry If this is posted in wrong Thread , New to Boards.

    I have recieved a Notice from UK saying a order was made against me for Unpaid council Tax. The Order was made in 2010 although it doesnt say what period this covers.

    I lived with my now ex wife in an apartment for 2 months before we split up and I moved back to Ireland. I paid the rent while I was there to my employer who owned the property but no lease was signed and my Ex agreed that she would cover the bills incluuding council tax. When we split she wanted to stay on in the apartment so I told her that to help her out I would pay a months rent after I was gone which I did.
    Now I have a order against me for £480 as obviously she did not pay any council tax and has given my details , what I want to know is:

    Do I have to pay this considering I was only there for 2 months and it does not say what period it was for?

    If I dont pay it what powers do the English Courts have here?
