Mortice Lock Door Knobs

    Hey

I went for a fairly scary trip to "Knobs and Knockers" in Dublin on Fleet Street I think. Seriously €50-€150 for a set of door knobs, who would pay that?

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for fairly cheap motice lock door knobs? I need 8 pairs for the whole house. I was thinking if I could get a funky plastic colour see through set or something, that would be fairly cool.

I dont think the likes of Ikea or whatever do them because there the mortice door handles, these locks are alot more old style, hard to get handles for them.

    Thanks in advance

Ah for older style stuff you need to try 'traditional' hardware shops like kingston's on Pembroke st, decwells, woodworkers. They will have something that will do. Still probably not cheap though!

Carp, since Im gettimg 8 pairs I need them to be a bit cheap. Ill have a look there tho, see if they'll give me a small bulk discount. Otherwise I'll just keep looking online

If you want anything beyond the basic knob I think you would certainly do better for price and range in the uk, online.

    Lennihans or MCQuillan Tools.

Chadwicks also sell mortice door knobs too.

What about these http://www.doorhandlecompany.co.uk/prodList.asp?idCategory=94 were also looking for traditional looking door knobs to hopefully match our traditional looking doors (whenever i find them) On this website they have mortice crackle ones for £20 inc VAT for a pair. but im sure if you mailed them and asked them for a discount for several they woudl consider it.
Or this website http://www.e-hardware.co.uk/acatalog/Reeded_Mortice_Door_Knob.html £15 for a set of the brass look ones seems good. £25 for shipping though... but again i would drop them a mail and ask for a discount.
