    Hi,

Just looking for a bit of advice. I have a 2007 ford mondeo 1.8 td( new shape). Only driving it three months and got it serviced 2 months ago.

I noticed on Sunday that the heat stopped working in the car. Then yesterday when got out of the car noticed that the fan was running for a few minutes after I stopped. Kept an eye on the heat needle thismorning and the engine seems to be getting dangerously hot at times. Again the fan was working overtime when I stopped.

Any ideas what's wrong. Is this a common fault with the car?

    Thanks.

Sounds like its low on coolant or the thermostat is not working correctly.

Make sure it has coolant in it. If it overheats you will probably be looking at a new head gaskets. I'd get it checked asap.

I'd be more inclined to think you have a problem with the temp sensor which controls the fan

Sounds more like it's low on coolant or faulty thermostat to me. The fan temp switch would not stop the interior heater from working.

My bad I didn't relies we where talking about interior heat if that's the case it's going to be a water pump r thermostat my bad didn't think we were on about inside the car but I'd be thinking water pump and thermostat

Check the hoses that circulate the coolant, I had an issue where the hose came lose and the coolant was just spilling onto the engine. This may not be your issue as the coolant bruning off the engaine would be a give away.

I understand that there may have been a recall on some of the hoses for the coolant in the new model Mondeo.

First and simplest check, What is the coolant level like?
