Crash repair -choosing garage?

    Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago, a guy in work put a dent in my car-don't know him that well but as he was a colleague, I was very cordial about the whole thing.
Went and got 5 different quotes for him and gave him the cheapest one-he comes back saying its still too expensive and that a family friend would be able to quote a better price. I (stupidly) agreed that he could take a look-he has now come back e100 cheaper than the cheapest quote. Problem is he's miles from where I live and where I work so I would have to get a taxi or something to work on the morning it's dropped off etc. hadn't really thought it through in that regard. Plus I have used the garage that gave me the cheapest quote originally and I was happy with their work. Long and short of it is I want to stick with that garage despite it being more expensive-where do I stand on this? Do I have a right to choose?

    Thanks

    Yaya

You should never be out of pocket or inconvenienced by him damaging your car.

Its not his choice who fixes it. If he argues, just tell him you'll let his insurance sort it out!

Say what you have said to us, to your colleague.
Don't feel bad for something that's not your fault!

It's your car and his fault. Tell him to speak to your insurer re the bill if that's how he wants to work it. Ie: like it or lump it.

As everyone else says, it's your car and you're perfectly entitled to choose where to get it repaired. You should also have a replacement car while yours is being repaired, so that you're not inconvenienced any more than you have to be.

And if he doesn't like your decision and still pushing you to go to his guy, just tell him your insurance company will be in touch with his.
