    Hi all!

I'm trying to find a "different" kind of wedding band for our wedding on 22nd February 2013 in Cork. We wanted Spring Break but they're not available :( If anyone has any suggestions we'd be really grateful. Thanks in advance!!

define different? not to be smart, but theres lots of "different" bands out there. cheesey, rocky, tribute-y, showbandy, indie-y, swing-y, jazzy..... if you can tell us what you had in mind might be able to recommend a few bands that suit.

note if you go through an agency you'll pay a premium, In some cases you have no choice as in the band you may want only take bookings through an agency but its always worth investigating booking direct.

Hi Clint. I guess by "different" we mean we don't want the usual cheese you get at weddings. I've discovered a band called BeatClub which looks promising for us. They play the kind of stuff we're looking for - old stuff, but not cheese!!!

most bands will play non-cheesey songs if you ask them, the cheese is a bit of a common denominator in getting people dancing but most couples looking hate it. Trust me, most bands hate playing it even more but its part of the job I suppose.
If you like the beat club and have got costs already and have the budget for them, book them, brilliant band.

Thanks for the input Clint. It's good to hear a good review about the band we're thinking of booking. It's such a big decision!

Most bands don't want to play cheesy stuff either. We'd that problem when originally approaching the thought of playing for weddings - but the thing we found is that you can pick out some crowd pleasers which aren't cringeworthy too, unusual songs, maybe even normal songs but played with a slightly rockier edge to them.

Chat with whatever band you want to go with, make sure you go see them a few times too. Seeing a band in one venue full of a younger audience might not be the same as seeing them in a bar where the crowd is older - their set and on stage presence could be completely different in both venues.
