Job Interview for sales job

Hi all, I applied for a job last week and had a telophone interview on Monday and did online tests for it later that evening. I had a competency based interview today with them. I was for sales job. I think it went well apart from I think I might have actually talked too much. There was two carrying out the interview. One team leader for the area the job is in and one from H.R.

What I am wondering is if it is normal for a team leader to stand in on an interview?

They also asked for permission to ring the referees, I had on my c.v. Of course I said yes. Should I see this as a good sign or is it standard questioning?

    Thanks

It's completely normal for someone from the line of business to sit in or even run the interview.

If they want to ring references then I would say that is always a good sign! Might be worth calling the referees you have and giving them a heads up too...
