please forgive me if this question has been asked before, I have a solid fuel back boiler and oil fired central heating installed , the problem been is when i run the oil i never get hot water and the 2 pipes leading to the cylinder remain cold... My rads are working fine, it is such a pity i have to turn on the emmersion if i need hot water after having the oil on ,
Every thing runs okay ( touch wood) when i burn solid fuel and back boiler..rads and hot water..
my cylinder is a single coil and wonder if i installed a duel coil cylinder would this sort my problem, my plumber thinks that might be the problem..Any other ideas...It is a firebird 50 90 oil boiler....

You really need a Plumber who knows about combining Solid Fuel and Oil and gas heating. Your suggestion of a new dual coil cylinder should solve the problem, but then again may be unnecessary, depending on whats there already. A heating engineer should be able to sort you out.

Thank you Sky6..rang another plumber for second opinion....it was an airlock in the system..the pipes got red hot rads working and water heated up..no too warm but then again better than cold..
