Getting rid of Calor Gas LPG

THEY have put up the charge for the maintenance of the tank by 105 Euro. In one way I would'nt mind but the only time I see them is when they look for money. In 7 years they visited just once to check the valve and give it a lick of paint

So I'm considering getting rid of it and replacing it with a bank of 4 interchangeable large gas bottles in a cage on the plinth. I don't use a lot of gas (as we have a backboiler & immersion so predominantly cooking only), just wondering, is this dangerous ? I realise I need a registered gas installer to do the necessary after the tank is removed but I think it would save me money long term ?

Alternatively i'd even consider a new boiler that burns logs... Guess thats too expensive??

    Thanks.

    FBP.

I use Calor from a communal tank. They charge me a daily meter charge of 27c plus VAT. They charge me by the cubic metre at €2.4622 per cube plus VAT. Anyway I want rid of them. My gas usage has dropped drastically since I installed a stove so whats my best option...a small bulk tank or a 47 kg cylinder?

If the boiler is still running well then I would look at putting in a bank of bottles. Once the boiler starts giving trouble that makes it expensive to repair then bin it in favour of an oil condensing boiler. If you are happy with the solid fuel aspect of your heating then look at systemlink for a fuller upgrade of the heating system.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I left a message on Calor Website asking for a callback to arrange cancellation. If no reply I will follow up when able with a phone call.
    Thanks for the info.
