half marathon in 10 days , so i figure tonight is a good time to get one last decent run under my belt,
i had initially mapped out an 18 km route but im worrying is this a bit too far, would like to get in a couple of shortish runs later in the week and then have a few days off , so maybe 15 k might be a better option
did a half ( cooley ) just 2 wks ago and was stiff for almost a week after it, tonight wont be anywhere near race speed , but i dont need to be stiff from overdoing the distance either

Hi woody1, it kind of depends on what kind of endurance base you have. You will always be sore after a raced 1/2 marathon, but you shouldn't be too sore after a long'ish training run at easy pace. If this is to be your last long run before the race, I'd suggest you stick wit the plan and cover 16-18kms. Having said that, you will have built-up an endurance base, given that you have just completed a half marathon recently. The key is to run your long training run at easy pace, not at your goal race pace.

yah itl be pretty slow going tonight, ive a fair bit done so far this year for me, did it last year on no training, just one long run before, determined to knock a fair bit off that so i want preparation to be as close to ideal as possible.. il still be towards the back, just not as far back

At the end of the day, the only person you're racing is yourself. Over time, you work your way up the pack, to a point where racing others becomes more important than the time it takes to cross the finish line. But first, you have you race yourself. And win. :)

Best of luck with the race.
