Mid Card mainly & occasional main eventer in B level ppvs. His new character is just the old one with a led jacket. I felt his storyline with Punk just said HEY look at all the momentum the champ has lost & how boring his character can be.
I just know Ricero is going to say Main Eventer then gnfnrhead & starvie will say nope mid crd.

Supporting card to the main event. He's Roddy Piper.

His mic work and in-ring ability should make him a Main Eventer but something about him always said Mid-Card to me even when he was World Champion it just seemed "meh".I'd put him top of the Mid-Card, maybe just before Main Event

    Neither.

Jericho is someone who makes other wrestlers look better.

He doesn't need to be challenging for a title anymore.

I know it isn't all Jericho's fault but the two matches with Punk were very average. Disappointing return but he's putting people over so his heart is in the right place. He badly needed something different other than a new jacket.

(Upper) mid-carder. His ring-style lacks a certain something that a true main-eventer requires.

His physical attacks always look too weak, particularly his punches which is why he has never excelled as a main eventer.

if that was the case then Cena would be superstars fodder each and every week!

Yeap. Put him in the same category as Ziggler; so good at making others look good in the ring, he's fallen into the role of "Jobber to the stars". He's good enough that he can move between Uppermid and main event without anyone batting an eyelid.

Chris Jericho deserves respect. For the last five years, he's done nothing but put people over. He's laid down for pretty much everybody. That may mean very little to most people today, but the older fans will recognise his accomplishments. Definitely not a fuss like these other man diva's both past and present. They never needed him to attack Punks family in the way he did - all they had to do was show re-runs and highlight reels of what Jericho has won throughout his career and it would have been more than enough. Title after title after title - he was the first undisputed champ too and had cracking matches with Guerrero and Benoit. I'm not a Jericho fan but I admire the Attitude guys and he was one of them. Apart from the rock, Jericho was up there with the best of them on the mic. A great character. He's a main eventer but not on the same level as these larger than life type personalities...

I said it in the RAW thread - Jericho's a main eventer. To be absolutely fair to him, he's been jobbing clean to everyone around him for over a decade. I consider him a main eventer (but at the lowest edge of that) and the only reason he's not in John Morrison territory is because he's excellent on the mic and extremely smooth in the ring. In my eyes he's kind of like Punk or Bryan, sort of an indy/iwc hero kind of thing in that he's a small but extremely talented guy, that was never supposed to be champion.

He's never had the WWE machine behind him as is constantly battling to keep his head above water in the shark tank that is WWE. Practically every feud he's in, he ends up the loser. WWE book him as a jobber to the stars; main event enhancement - but only the extremely talented could maintain his position while being cleanly beaten time and time again. I'm shocked and proud at his successes in wrestling.

Mid carder, and a vastly over-rated one at that.I briefly considered him a main eventer when he first became 'serious' heel Jericho, but that schtick is beyond stale at this point.Add in the fact that he's been a massive letdown since his much hyped return in January, erased any momentum that Punk had in their awful title feud, has been his old inconsistent self in the ring and has been tediously boring on the mic too. He's become a channel changer for me.

He either needs to re-invent himself again quickly(coming out with another new jacket doesn't count!) or head off back to his career as a gamehow host and singer in a crap band.

I think Punk kinda lost his own momentum even before Jericho returned if anything Punk's feud with Jericho has helped Punk imo

Considering he has main evented many WWE PPV's, live shows, television shows, I'd say he was a main eventer.

The OP question confused me, not sure if we were being asked is he main event or mid-card, or do we think he should be main event or mid-card.

He certainly is a main-eventer whether anyone likes it or not, there's no argument against that because he has been in the main event of the last 3 PPV's, each time for the WWE Championship. We do live in an era of two or three main events per PPV though.

Regardless of that, my opinion is that yes he is main event material. I really like his style in the ring, surprised anyone can be critical of that, rarely has a bad match in my eyes. The recent matches with Punk were great and the excellent 10 minute match with Kofi last week on Raw springs directly to mind. On the mic he is near perfect. Heel or face, the guy oozes charisma. Hope he sticks around this year.

Sorry if my question confused I meant do you consider him a main eventer or a mid carder as I seen in a few posts lately some saying he wasnt main event material. No matter as a heel or face he is a main eventer imo.

I think Punk said it best "You've never Been The Man like I'm the Man now..."

Personally i think Jericho's been quite unlucky.. He should've been a top level guy but outside things have stopped it in my opinion. What particularly sticks out in my mind was the period he had, that tag team with Benoit. And both guys where fueding with HHH and Austin in early 2001. HHH/Austin had both the Belts. And Jericho and Benoit seemed like the guys to take the titles off them. That period he(and Benoit also) was so over and on the cusp of being a serious top level guy. But unfortuantely Benoit and HHH both got injured around the same time and he haulted his push. Then the Invasion happened and he was just another background guy, when he could and should've been a lot more. Especially given his history with ECW/WCW, and by the time he won the title at Vengance, and became the Undisputed Champion, it wasnt the big deal it shouldve been, and from the start it was obvious he was just gonna be a transitional Champion.. I dont think he ever really had that chance again, Sure his last run was great and he was the top Heel in the company for a good 18 months. I dont think he ever reached those height's he seem destined for in early 2001..

I wonder if people can look past how he's booked, and just look at raw promo/ring skills - I imagine it's almost impossible. Like Batista is always made to look really strong, he's portrayed as a main eventer, hence he is one. Same with Cena, Orton, HHH etc etc.

Here's a summary of Jericho's notable or main event angles :
    2001-2
Won the Undisputed Title w/ help from Booker T and interference/cheating kept him with the title until he walked HHH's dog and jobbed clean at X8, and again the following month at HIAC.

    2003-4
Lost to HBK @ WMXIX, lost to Goldberg, Lost to Christian @ WMXX (although he won the next month)

    2005
Lost at EC, lost at WM (MITB), lost at ONS.
Lost & was fired by jobbing clean to John Cena while being Bischoff's sniveling bítch.

    2007 Return & 2008
DQ finishes with Orton and JBL.
Won then lost in the awesome months-long feud with HBK,
Won the WHC in a Scramble match after covering Kane after Batista spinebustered him.
He retained the belt at No Mercy (against HBK) and lost clean to Batista at Survivor Series. Won the belt back 8 days later in a steel cage match (i.e. Batty didn't have to actually job AGAIN). The next month he jobbed clean to the returning John Cena.

    2009-10
Lumbered in a legends match at WM25 which he won.
He lost, won and lost the IC belt vs Rey in another excellent feud ending at The Bash.
He toiled with JeriShow for a bit culminating in a job to DX.
Won the WHC at EC (thanks to HBK) and retained against Edge at WM26. Lost the belt a few days later to Jack Swagger.
Basically a filler guy until Orton punted him out of the WWE in September 2010.

    2012 Return
Returned to be eliminated by Punk at EC and then jobbed out clean at WM and Extreme Rules.

Now tell me where in there is Jericho supposed to get over as main event talent!

Ok Jericho has jobbed a lot of times but who did he ever lose to that really benefited a lot from it. Can't think of anybody specifically tbh

A year on Smackdown would get him over as main event talent, could have some great feuds with Bryan, Orton, and Sheamus.

From his most recent feud I would say Punk to some degree I just wish Jericho has taken the title off Punk at one ppv

Mid Carder when WWE had an incredible roster 10 years ago. These days with the calibre of the roster, a main eventer.

without a doubt main eventer i'd class jericho above cena, orton, punk and batista, he is last of the attitude guys and who else but a future main eventer could have debuted interrupting the rock :p

i think jericho is similar to hbk didnt have many world title reigns but will be remembered as a legend, loved their matches

i agree if he is staying around a move to smackdown and perhaps a face run would be good for him there

orton and sheamus are bland and boring as the main faces on smackdown

So true, he's practically a guaranteed future Hall of Famer.

When I think of mid card I think of the R Truths of this world.

    He is way above them.

He is a main eventer and deserves to be classed as one.

He is not a Mega Star like Stone Cold, Rock, Brock, Cena, HHH or Taker.

I think he is on the same level as Orton, Punk or Edge.

orton and sheamus are bland and boring as the main faces on smackdown

That is odd isn't it? The reason they became faces is people got behind them as heels kicking the heads off people. Then WWE go and book them as the standard boring face. They did the similar with Punk.
