I suppose you've read the description for both on tvtrade.ie I haven't decided which one to buy myself yet but I'm finding that website to be useful.

Ferguson Box Analog teletext only for now no teletext after October. No interactive services and red button functions. No MHEG5 engine.

Triax TSC114 has digital teletext and in my opinion is a better box, the fergsons are cheaply made and I have seen quite a few already been replaced, have had no problems with the triax box as of yet tip wood but it could still do with a lot of enhancements such as 7 day epg for sat channels and red button access on the bbc channels which its predecessor had.

Not half the trouble some of the Triax models are:(. Afaik there is only one batch despatched from Ferguson that caused problems - and they have been replaced when requested by the customers.

The triax is more expensive as it is Saorview approved. This means it should work better for Saorview now and into the future. Prices should come down between now and October and a lot after October.

On the Sat side they are very similar as far as I know.

actually i have found the ferguson to be extremely reliable. I bought one from satskelp when it came out first and the second last month from satellite.ie all working perfectly no issues so for the price I would recommend them any day. no experience of the triax so cant comment on that box.

I'd go for the triax. In my experience the arivas are terrible.

Have you considered the new Walker combo box:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=2056628216

It does much the same as the other two. It is very, very nearly Saorview approved and a little bit cheaper than the triax. Having said that no-one has done a proper review yet.

I feel the Triax TSC114 is miles better than the predecessor, the ST537 (whatever you do, I suggest you avoid this one), and I personally prefer it to the Ariva 120.

Having said that, I do really like the Ariva as a budget box, and bang for buck, it's hard to beat.
