Bit of a silly question here, but is it necessary to disconnect the battery when changing a xenon headlight bulb?

I've changed numerous bulb's before, but never a xenon bulb.Don't want to fry the last few remaining hairs on me head!!

make sure they are well cooled down before changing........just in case you are still using the part that has not blown...
