I'm considering applying for a part-time Masters course in IADT and I know that I'm not eligible for any VEC grants because of the part-time nature of the course.

However, I'm just wondering if I happen to become unemployed during this time, will I be able entitled for jobseekers allowance or any other payments?

You can get tax back on the masters tuition fees - I think you can claim jsa once the course is definitely part time and you can demonstrate that's you would be available for full time work. They may know more in the state benefits forum.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

As my current employment is minimum wage and 3 days a week, I'm assuming that I can't claim anything back tax wise from tuition fees (as I don't pay income tax)? Or have I horrendously misinterpreted it?

Thanks for the suggestion of the State Benefits forum, didn't even know it existed as I've never had a need for it!

As long as the course does not interfere with your availability for full time work/looking for work, then it would not have an affect on claiming JSA.

    Yes and no

Someone such as a parent or friend could pay the fees on your behalf and claim the taxback
