HAIRY BACK - WHAT DO I DO?

All my past girlfriends have said it needs to go. It's pretty dense. And it's ugly. And it's ruining my self-confidence if I'm in a situation where i might want to take my shirt off in front of others.
Any advice on what the other hairy backs do?
If you look on getting this taken off for good, does anyone have any idea how much that costs?

Go and get it shaved/waxed if it's that's much bother. Some women like men with dense body hair, all down to personal preference.

Get it waxed. But if you start doing that, you'll have to do it regularly as stubbly backs are probably worse than a hairy back. (Same goes for guys who shave/wax their chest).

Looking to get rid of the hair on my back. Don't have tonnes of it, but it's still enough to annoy me/make myself feel self conscious.

So in my mind there's two options - shave or veet. I don't want to have to rely on someone to shave/apply for me, so what are my options?

There's products on amazon (linked below) that help you shave back there. They look a bit mental. Are they fiddly or easy to use? Other option is some sort of sponge on a stick for veet. What other options are there.

I need advise from the furry men of boards!

Surprised no one has mentioned laser - in the Fashion and Appearance/Beauty forums if you search there's a good list of places to try (or avoid!) - Bear in mind it might not be suitable, but much more effective than waxing in the long-term.

For waxing I would recommend that you would have it done in a salon, because if you buy those home wax kits and have your girlfriend pull it off, theres a risk of bruising and or ingrown hairs forming.

Have you considered laser? It might not get rid of the entire amount but it would definately reduce it and would make it easier to deal with.

I use veet cream on my husbands back. It's not too hairy but he likes it smooth for holidays / beach so I do it for him.

If you asked your sister/ mom/ brother they might veet it for you, it last around 3 weeks on my husbands back. It's not the wax that would be too painfull.

epilator although it would be hard to reach, you would have to get a friend,or a partner to do it on your back..
laser can cost a nearly a thousand if you are getting it done on a big area like your back

Hmmm. . . women seem to like my back hair. Maybe you just need a trim.
Or maybe I should up my standards a bit. Different Strokes for different folks I guess.

+1 for the wax, isn't as painful as the ladies make it out to be. €20 and you're sorted. Will need to be repeated however, every 3 or more months.

My OH has the hairiest back and I love it! I was a bit taken aback at first (and I did mention it going) but now I am so glad it didn't. I thought he might want to get rid of it for holidays etc. but he is comfortable with it so so am I!

Any where you would recomend to go to get waxed? Wouldn't fancy walking in to a salon of some sort full of women

my back is a bit hairy but my other half Veets me up every few months or so, specifically when I'm going on hols or swimming etc. she's not bothered by it at all but I prefer to get rid.

pretty much comes off in the shower a few minutes after the cream is applied

If excess hair on your back is really getting to you,I would highly recommend you get it waxed.I've been bugging my brother forever to get his done, turned up last night after finallygetting it done, unfortunately he got his girlfriend to do it with some available in all supermarkets strips. Now he has some infected follicles, spots etc to deal with. For the record I am not a beautican just an experienced waxee,so my advice is this......if you want to get waxed,ALWAYS go to a salon,it's only your back.....everyone's got one!! And if you choose to go do the DIY route, aloe vera lotion is your new best friend:)!!!!

PS mods cut this if this not allowed but if any Cork Guys want a back wax PM me for a salon number.

Call ahead to a salon and make an appointment. Don't let the idea of a salon being full of women put you off, as generally, they won't be as there will be only so many appointments available. There's nothing to be ashamed of either, everybody has a back and its nothing that they haven't seen before. I can promise that the girl that will wax you isn't going to go "Oh! Look! A man!" If you are in dublin I can PM you some salons that I would recommend.

Waxing to start, if you are willing, plenty of salons cater and are used to men coming in, either that or laser, which can take a while

Go for laser. It's no more painful than waxing but it's way more permanent. It's not cheap but waxing every 6 weeks with nasty regrowth in the interim is not good either.

I was self conscious about my back hair when I was younger, but have since learned to embrace it. I got it waxed once but realised it was pointless due to how quickly it grew back.

All but one of my exes didn't mind it, and the one that did changed her mind once I pointed out that waxing looks weird because since it continues over my shoulder and joins my chest hair, any cutoff point just looks weird and wholly unnatural.

Also, mine doesn't cover my whole back. It's shaped kinda like angel wings :D

Flaunt your hairy back like a man, BOY!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,293 ✭✭✭1ZRed

If it only just annoys you then wax it off or use one of those hair removal creams.
If it really bothers you, why don't you just get laser hair removable?
It's a bit expensive but a lot better then waxing every 3 weeks IMO.

I don't have a hairy back but if it was bad enough to bother me, I would just get lasered. I'm too lazy to commit to shaving anything other than my face!:D
