    Hi all

I have been on here looking for advice before but taxes, insurance, petrol/diesel prices have changed a lot since then... so...

I have a 2.5l Mazda Bongo Campervan that I use as my everyday vehicle at the moment. I have been measuring the MPG over past 3 months and I get an average of 28mpg. I pay approximately 650e insurance and about 90e tax per year, plus DOE costs, maintenance etc of a 15 year old vehicle.

I will be upping my mileage quite a lot from September onwards so need to by myself a small "runaround" car... I really don't want to sell the Bongo if I can avoid it.

My budget is about 2,000euro max.

Ideally I would like a small diesel engine with really good MPG.

Is there any site I can do the maths? As in maintenance, tax, insurance etc.

    Really it boils down to:
Should I pay €2000-€2500 for a 1.4 diesel that will give me very high mpg (road tax of approx 350 per year)

    or

Should I pay €1000 for a 1.9 diesel that will give me less mpg and higher road tax.

Most important thing by a country mile for me is value for money and cheap running costs. I want something cheap to run, insurance and tax as I will have 2 vehicles on the road.

    Advice?

Hey. I bought a 02 Fiesta Diesel 1.4 in February and have to say there a great little car. Spacious, very economical and comfy to drive. Would recommend one. Paid 2100 for it after scouting through DoneDeal.

OP - if the car u get is over 10 years old, don't forget to factor in an annual NCT.
