Does anyone have any hints as to the best value for getting new tyres? Is going up north a good idea? I'm looking for 4 new tyres 195/45/16
low profiles for a ford fiesta.
I gather down here they seem to range from 70 to 100euro per tyre?

    Any ideas would be welcome...

    Cheers:D

I was looking for tyres myself and saw this set on gumtree that would fit your car. £15 each 2 near new 2 with 4mm left.

If you want new tyres it depends on the brand. A decent tyre would be around 70 sterling so not really worth travelling up north for.

Do fiestas take 16 inch wheels? that's a decent size for a small car.

We have a Fiesta with the same size tyres....very very difficult tyre to source. Nobody had them in stock so ended up having to take the only set on offer i.e Federals @ €80 a corner

Yes they do. The Steel and Steel II edition models have them.

OP, you buy them online, not sure if you will save much money when you take having to pay an extra €50 or so to get them fitted and balanced but you do have more choice:

Because they are a less common size they are going to be a bit more expensive.

Online is always better value. I've compared local prices with online many times and online always wins.
That said it can be worth going local if the price is still reasonable: you get them immediately and they include fitting.

    Thanks for the info Guys...;)

I think I will stay local , anyway, in some ways I prefer to keep the locals in jobs and the money local too, unless the price is completely crazy, which in this case it seems hardly worth the bother going up to NI.
    Thanks again:D

How do you get tyres ordered online? I thought delivery would be an issue.

Fair enough if you don't want to save money:D

Delivery costs are small, around 20 euro for 4 tyres on camskill, like amazon etc they would be moving a lot of stuff so get much reduced rates.

What you do have to factor in is fitting costs which will vary from place to place and some places wont fit them atall. You will be looking at somewhere between 10 and 20 euro per tyre to fit them.

I got very lucky during the week, got 2 new goodyear eagle f1 Asymmetric 2's in 225/40/18 fitted for €300, Eiretyres has them at €162 each, Camskill has them at £117 each (total including delivery comes to €302.58) and that's without fitting.

    Online doesn't always win ;)
