Just a question that popped into my head. I like metal but, as regards the heavier stuff, I must admit that I prefer non-screaming/growling type singing and dont really know too many bands like this.

What bands would you guys recommend that would fit this bill? Later Avenged Sevenfold are ok. Mastodon is another one I've heard can be like this but I dont really know them.

    Anyways, any suggestions appreciated

    cheers all

I've honestly no interest in either Avenged Sevenfold or Mastodon, but you could try these really excellent bands and albums:

While Heaven Wept - Vast Oceans Lachrymose
    Paradise Lost - In Requiem
    Amorphis - Am Universum
    Katatonia - Discouraged Ones
    Mael Mordha - Manannan
    In the Woods - Omnio
    Paradise Lost - Draconian Times
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
    The Foreshadowing - Oionos
    Bathory - Hammerheart
    Paradise Lost - Tragic Idol
Blood Ceremony - Living With The Ancients
    Ghost - Opus Eponymous
    Lacuna Coil - Unleashed Memories
    Mercyful Fate - Melissa
Saxon - Strong Arm of The Law
    Judas Priest - Nostradamus
Diamond Head - Lightning To The Nations
    Anathema - Eternity
    Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors
    Paradise Lost - Draconian Times

Wow, excellent list! Much appreciated Nephilim, I know it was a bit of a vague question.

No problem. Most of those bands are old school, or old school sounding like Ghost and Blood Ceremony which is what I love. I've barely no interest at all in new bands though nowadays.

    A few tunes I enjoy.

    Candlemass

    Manowar

    Gotthard

    HammerFall

Thats just to name a few. Dont really know what style of music you're after. For example a good lot of older thrash bands would have had fairly clean vocals.

You could try Five Finger Death Punch too! Some incredible songs!

There are plenty of metal bands around that don't feature harsh vocals. Are you looking for more bands in a particular style e.g. thrash, death, doom, symphonic?
