For scenery yes but if I was looking at buying that car pictured I wouldn't touch it. The grass photos give the impression the car has being ploughing fields for the day and the one of it on the road gives the impression it's just left it's rubber all over the road doing donuts :D

The location looks lovely for taking photos of the car

However it's completely nonsensical to go parking the car on the grass or in the water itself to take the photos, and actually just ruins the photos. Think of this logically - when do cars normally drive on grass? Answer:
    they dont

Why would you assume it looks good then?

That's speaking as a car photographer btw.

I just meant I've seen thousands of both my own and other car photographers photos, so might be more used to analyzing these things, albeit critically :)

The best thing to do with photos of a car is have it where you'd expect it to be, or be natural.

Porsche regularly do this, their press shots for the GTx RS are always on tracks. But it's a porsche, it's expected to look and feel at home on a track.

Take a 4x4, where do you expect it to be? Some enviornment suited to the vehicle, muck, rocks, mountains...

Put the car where it's most suited. That doesn't mean the background has to be boring, it just means don't try have a seat leon climbing mount everest or swimming the atlantic.

Done. Took a while to find one with Micras in it, but it was worth it.

Callum, going by your definition, your car is expected to be in a farmyard :D

At least it's not parked in a foot of water.

I think cars look good near the sea, a bit of scenery goes a long way for making something look better....but never put your car in the bloody water.:)

A pier would be fine or a construction yard. The car on water thing I think goes back to an old car advert that I think many are trying to emulate if not subconsciously. I couldnt find it on the net so quickly made up an image for reference. Something like this:

id say it looked nice but it would be very very hard to do in real life cause they have perfect conditions

As something of an amateur photographer, I appreciate a well composed shot of a car in scenic surroundings.

However, if you are taking a photo of a car purely with the intention of selling it using that photo, I would consider a plain background better as you want people to look at the car, not the scenery in the background.

And parking your car in water is a silly idea.

I'm sure it wasn't intentional but many years ago, I saw the top six inches of a Peugoet 504 estate sticking out of the water on a beach at high tide. I'm sure that did it a load of good...
