Stop getting notification emails rom threads?

I'm on boards years and this is the only site that sends out these annoying emails, why? How do i stop it please? thanks

User CP -> edit options, change default subscription mode.

Under My Threads you can remove any subscribed threads.

Is there a way to stop new subscriptions automatically happening if I forget to hit the unfollow button?

As stated above, change the default subscription mode.
