Freesat box vs Lidl Sat box

Hi. Have a motorhome which I'm taking to France this summer. Has a satellite dish on the roof. Have positioned it here in Ireland to Aastra2 and I'm getting the channels on my Freesat box which I borrowed from living room. I also borrowed a Lidl Silvercrest satellite receiver box from a mate, and get reception by connecting it up too.
My question is this - the Lidl box says it's preset to connect to multiple different satellite's (Astra 1 and 2, Hotbird, Turksat, Sirius etc). There's no mention of this on the Freesat box. Will the Freesat box only work with Astra2? My main concern is being able to pick up Euro 2012 while I'm over there - if I can't pick up Astra2 and BBC, I'll happily take another feed and watch it in Polish/turkish if I have to!
Is the Lidl box more versatile than the Freesat box at working with different satellites?

    Thanks

Your Freesat Box is designed for the Astra2d. The Lidl/comag receiver is a generic FTA suitable for numerous satellites from 1w to 42e and so on depending on your dish size.
Just bring the 2 of them just in case.

thanks - only borrowed the Lidl one from a mate, so will go and get a similar one if it has more to offer than the Freesat one - which it does from what you're saying. Any pointers for a cheap equivalent? One that will connect to multiple satellite's?

Make sure the transponder frequencies stored in the Lidl receiver (or whatever you use) for the channels you want are up to date.

You can check them out on these sites:

    kelbal,

I've got a Technisat Freesat HD box and a Lidl Silvercreat 65 (not HD). The Technisat , like some other Freesat boxes, allows you to add other channels or satellites. I got mine using Astra 28.5, 19e, 13e and 9e for Saorsat. The SL65 is not HD, but does all satellites as well.

I dont use the SL65, I've also got a remote and scart lead, so your more than welcome to it. Send a pm if your interested.
