    Hi all,
I moved almost a year ago to the thriving metropolis of Castlebar and I'm a half decent flute player and looking to find some trad group or session to join? Would appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction or maybe someone is in a similar boat and wouldn't mind playing some trad? All suggestions welcome.

If you go into Mulroy's Bar in Main St., there's sure to be one of the staff there who will know what you're looking for. There is also , or at least used to be, a trad session on Thursday nights in McCarthy's bar further down Main St from Mulroys & on the same side. Pat Tierney is your contact there.

    Thanks,
I believe there are some sessions on in Johnny McCales's but not sure when or if anyone can just play along or is it more of a set group?

    Hi Tradchick,

As was mentioned previously, there is a session on either a Wednesday or a Thursday night (can't remember which) in McCarthys on Main St. There wouldn't be a problem with you sitting in. I'm playing a trad rock gig in McCarthys on the 19th of this month - while that mightn't be what you're looking for, if you're around come in and make yourself known to me (i'm the bass player). There are some serious trad musicians playing with us that night and they'd be good contacts for you to have.

Thanks a mill threebeards, will take note of your gig and do my best to go- sounds good. - would only be delighted to get to know a few trad players locally. Thanks again
