Silvercrest SL65-NO SIGNAL- Help! :-(

Hi all you magnificent people who know all sorts of fabulous stuff about stuff! :pac:

Silvercrest SL65 set up with TV

Satellite dish that came with the pack - Lidl

It was very windy the other night, went to turn on TV yesterday and nada, zero, zilch, no signal on every channel.

I did "slightly" try and re-position dish with a sweeping brush, not very techie I know but it didn't budge. It still looks as if it is facing the same direction, I don't think it moved in the wind?

Did something sneaky happen in the sky where all the satellites live?
    Has something changed?

I did try going into the menu and try scanning etc..
    No programs!
    No signal!

It is usually on Astra 28.2 or Astra IN

TP scan on Astra 28.2E says - Signal Intensity 79% and Signal Quality 14% if that helps.

    TP Index is 3/73

All help greatly appreciated, thanks :)

I assume you tried a reboot.

Don't try to guess or mess with the dish alignment. Buy or borrow a receiver (even a used Sky Digibox will do) and use it to test your dish system. If it works, you know your SL65 is faulty.

Alternatively, take it to a friend's house and test it on his dish system.

    agree
unplug it for a minute and try again

    thanks ..

I've turned it off at the mains (extension lead) and turned it on again.

Is that what you mean by a reboot?

Unplugged everything: still the same :-(

The dish elevation (up/down movement :)) may have changed, this can easily happen with those dishes in windy weather.

The receivers are very reliable in my experience.

Thanks for all your help folks..

I called the guy who installed it for me and he called out tonight:

The dish had moved a fair bit in the wind (sorry I lied in my first post thinking it hadn't). So he fixed it.

Also coincidentally my DVD player seems to have died at the same time and is interfering and switching off the signal to the freeview box. It could be the scart lead that is dodgy he said.

    Anyway all sorted now.

Thanks again to ye for answering. :)

And here was me thinking you installed it yourself ...

He mustn't be much of an installer, don't be surprised if it goes wrong again.

In fairness to him he did say that the dish that came with the Lidl pack thing is more for a motorhome or camping set up, the dish is solid (as in not mesh type) so he did warn me that it wouldn't be as secure as the likes of a Sky type dish.

I was happy enough to give it a go anyway as it is on the back of my house which is very sheltered, just mad winds the other night!

If it moves again I might consider getting a different dish, but so far it's been up a fair few months and all was grand.

I bought the thing in Lidl and just asked installer guy to put in in as it was sitting in my kitchen in the box for six months :o
